Schoemanskloof
Offering mountain views, Mbizane Escarpment Retreat in Schoemanskloof offers accommodation, an outdoor swimming pool, a shared lounge, a terrace, a restaurant and barbecue facilities. The lodge features both WiFi and private parking free of charge. Everything! The tents are incredible - very big and so luxurious inside. Even better than the photos. Whoever did the interior design has a great eye and really paid attention to the details. It also works well as a living space; both of us could stretch out in the living room and read our books, which is a rarity. Needless to say, the surrounding area is incredibly beautiful. We slept like babies with the sound of the stream right outside our tent, and appreciated the turn down service to make everything a bit cozier. We genuinely thought we were the only guests, but learned later that they were full up (and saw the other guests at breakfast). This speaks volumes about how private and secluded the tents feel. Zuannette and Arman, the couple running the retreat, really made our stay an 11/10. Zuannette was so helpful and accommodating even before we reached the property; she helped us organize a Valentine’s scarp drive and picnic on very short notice. We also enjoyed several of Arman’s meals (he is a talented chef and runs the restaurant). They are friendly and genuine but also run the place very professionally, which is not an easy balance to strike. I would definitely recommend an evening scarp drive and picnic, it was not just beautiful but also interesting to learn about the history of the place. Also impressed with the delicious spring water! I could go on but please go and see it for yourself, you won’t regret it!

Just an incredible hotel, I didn't want to leave.
The quality of the rooms is amazing (I stayed in a room off the train and inside it was actually even better than the carriages - only missed out on the view and novelty). Food was also fantastic and service very friendly.
The pool/bar area is a breathtaking place with constant hippo views while we were there and fantastic bar service.
The best thing was the game drives - Sizwe was the best, charismatic and took time to show us stuff he knew we'd be interested in.

We loved the lodge. It was a truly special experience. Everything. The safari, the food, the environment of the hotel, the facilities, the staffs. It is an expensive experience, but totally worth it if you have the chance to invest!
Probably the best part of our South Africa trip! Everything was perfect! The safari drives were amazing (shout out to Eric and Gideon), the room was spacious and clean, the food was excellent, and the whole lodge is very well kept and maintained. Highly recommended!
The view was amazing. The hippo's [and sometimes elephants, koedoes, crocodiles and impala's) roam around the sabie river that is right in front of the accomodation so its like going on safari. The arranged safaris with the Sabie River Bush lodge were amazing. The driver casca was very nice and could tell u a lot about the animals and he really tried (and succeeded) to find all the animals we could think of.
Crystal Springs covers a very large area and is well maintained with a lot of outdoor facilities and in a spectacular location with a wonderful view from the lodges/apartments. The actually accommodation was very well equipped and comfortable and easy to self cater. The staff were very friendly and efficient.
Excellent stay. Great diner. Friendly and helpful staff. We can recommend to do a full day safari organised by the lodge.
View- Open view to the river. Few other lodges in the area have that Staff - Friendly and accommodating staff. Took exceptional care.
The highlights were the location of the Train above the Sabi River - unbeatable! Beautiful, well positioned pools, decks, bars and chill areas provide a world class safari and luxurious atmosphere. The food offering at all meals was the best we have experienced at any five star game lodge in South Africa - exceptional! Special dietary requirements are particularly well catered for and the all inclusive drinks policy is a bonus. Staff customer orientation is outstanding - all guest requests were accommodated with enthusiasm.
The lodge was fantastic and such was the hosts who really took care of us. The lodges are all self sufficient and ecological. The design is fabulous. They also offer delicious meals and safari tours that leave from the lodge. What a wonderful time we spent there!
Val and Neil were perfect hosts. They made our stay so satisfactory by making us feel so welcome, attending to our needs and ensuring we had an amazing experience. Our guided safari with them was amazing and we felt their expertise and passion made our experience so memorable. We have stayed in several lodges and quest houses and we still rate theirs the most highly rated. The lodge, location, food and hosts will remain our favourite and most memorable. Thanks to val and neil for everything ! Fondly remembered always..
Geiger Camp and Motswari Game Lodge is my home away from home. This is excellent value for money, where each guest receives VIP treatment. The staff and rangers go the extra mile to ensure comfort and an amazing bush safari experience. And the cuisine is excellent! This was the fourth time I returned in 2 years. It is absolutely worthwhile and a huge treat!
